In the northern state of Chihuahua, Mexico, agents of the National Guard in conjunction with personnel from the Border Patrol of El Paso, Texas, United States, toured the banks of the Rio Grande, where ropes and metal ladders were found, which are used by “polleros” to help illegal immigrants to cross the river, into the USA. The ladders were disabled to prevent migrants from being in danger.
This finding was made during the Binational Mirror Operation, which coordinates the security agents in both sides of the border, to inhibit illegal crossings, and prevent consequent criminal acts.
With actions of this magnitude, the commitment to permanently work for the safety of nationals and migrants is reaffirmed, respecting their human rights as established by national laws and international treaties.
