Mexico’s public debt represents 52% of GDP, the highest volume in the historical record as a proportion of the size of the economy. In currency, we are talking about 12 trillion pesos at the end of 2020. Compared with the amount of public debt at the end of 2019, that of 2020 meant an increase of 7.5%. So far in the two-year term of Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the public debt has increased by 7.3 percentage points.
