As part of the cultural and tourism promotion strategy spearheaded by the administration of Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier, the Ministry of Tourism Development participated in the Seventh Meeting of Traditional Cooks, held at the Jardín Borda Cultural Center in Cuernavaca, where Puebla attended as a special guest state.
The state’s participation in this event strengthens the ties of collaboration between the two entities, following the signing of a collaboration agreement between Morelos and Puebla during the Tianguis Turístico México 2026 (Mexico Tourism Fair) to promote joint tourism, cultural, and gastronomic initiatives. This activity marks the beginning of a coordinated work agenda to strengthen regional tourism and promote the traditions that define Mexico’s identity.
During her remarks, the Secretary of Tourism Development, Carla López-Malo Villalón, emphasized that traditional cuisine represents one of the fundamental pillars of Puebla’s cultural identity, as it is a living tradition that preserves recipes, techniques, and knowledge passed down from generation to generation. She also expressed her gratitude for the invitation from the Morelos authorities and celebrated the culinary exchange between the two regions.
“In Puebla, we understand gastronomy as a living culture, as history and tradition passed down from generation to generation. We are filled with pride to share part of our culinary heritage with Morelos through dishes like cemitas, chalupas, molotes, and tlayoyos, because gastronomy is one of our greatest sources of pride as a country,” she stated.
For her part, the Governor of Morelos, Margarita González Saravia, acknowledged the value of traditional cooks in preserving cultural roots and highlighted the presence of the Puebla delegation at this gastronomic celebration, which strengthens the promotion of community and cultural tourism in Mexico.
Representing the state were traditional cooks Dolores López Mogollán, Adriana Cuaya Cortez, and Carmen López Mogollán, as well as traditional cook Luis Ramón Cuautle Coyotl, all from San Andrés Cholula. They shared a taste of the region’s rich culinary heritage by preparing cemitas, chalupas, molotes, and tlayoyos, among other dishes made with traditional ingredients and techniques passed down through generations.
Luis Ramón Cuautle Coyotl thanked the Government of the State of Puebla for supporting the participation of traditional cooks in these types of national events, and acknowledged the importance of the event in sharing the gastronomic and cultural wealth of indigenous communities.
The Government of the State of Puebla, in coordination with Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, continues its tourism and cultural promotion efforts that strengthen traditions, community-based tourism, and the preservation of Mexico’s culinary heritage.
