Personnel from the National Institute of Migration (INM) and elements of the National Guard rescued 235 Central American migrants, in operations carried out in the states of Oaxaca and Veracruz.
The first seizure was registered on the Oaxaca-Tehuantepec highway, in the town of San Pedro Totolapan.
There, elements of the National Guard stopped a cargo truck from Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas, due to the partial lack of headlights.
When conducting the review, they detected that 119 people were traveling inside the trailer box, originating from different Central American countries, in overcrowded conditions.
The second seizure was registered in the Xalapa bypass, in the state of Veracruz, near the municipality of Emiliano Zapata.
National Guards stopped another cargo truck because its driver was not wearing a seat belt, but, while lifting the infraction, they heard voices inside.
When conducting the search, they discovered a hidden compartment, inside a coal shipment, where they found 116 people, also from Central America.
In both cases, the migrants circulated through the national territory without documents.

According to police reports, the group of migrants who wanted to reach the Mexican border with the United States was made up of 185 Guatemalan citizens, 30 Hondurans and 11 Salvadorans.
“The rescued people, both in Oaxaca and Veracruz, lacked documents that would prove their legal stay in the country, so they were available to the personnel of the National Institute of Migration to receive consular assistance and after the recognition of nationality they were granted the assisted return ”, reported the SSPC.
