Edson Alvarez is aiming to bring a “fresh mentality” to West Ham after making a winning start to life at the London Stadium.
The Mexico international became the Hammers’ first signing of the summer transfer window earlier this month, his arrival coming after West Ham sold captain Declan Rice to Arsenal for £105m.
Alvarez has become the fourth Mexican player in West Ham’s 128-year history – following in the footsteps of Guillermo Franco, Pablo Barrera, and Javier (Chicharito) Hernandez.
West Ham United completed a deal to sign Mexico midfielder Edson Alvarez from Ajax on Thursday.
The Hammers are expected to pay Ajax around £35 million for the 25-year-old.
“I am very happy and very proud to be here,” Alvarez told WHUFC.com, speaking in fluent English.
“Being here in London and seeing London Stadium, it’s amazing. I can’t wait to play here in front of the West Ham fans.
“It’s a hugely sentimental moment for me in my career. To join a club like West Ham is a dream for me and my family.
