Urióstegui promotes Chinese investments in Cuernavaca

Mayor José Luis Urióstegui Salgado held an important meeting with representatives of the Jiangsu Chamber of Commerce, China, led by its president, Zhun Zhao, to promote economic development and strengthen international ties.

The meeting was convened by Federal Representative Adrián Martínez Terrazas and was attended by local Representative Daniel Martínez Terrazas, as well as members of the municipal cabinet. The main objective was to establish a sister city project that would allow bilateral exchanges between both regions, promoting investment projects that directly benefit the people of Cuernavaca.

During the meeting, the Chinese delegation was introduced to the cultural, tourist, and economic wealth of Cuernavaca, also known as the City of Eternal Spring. Cuernavaca, also known as the City of Eternal Spring, has undergone a significant transformation over the past three years under the leadership of José Luis Urióstegui Salgado, consolidating sister city agreements with various cities around the world and states in Mexico.

On behalf of the Jiangsu Chamber of Commerce, President Zhun Zhao and Vice President Zhengjie Zhao expressed their gratitude for the warm welcome and expressed their interest in consolidating a strategic alliance with Cuernavaca. They emphasized that, like other major capitals in the country, the city of Morelos has great potential for development with the support of international investments and projects.

This important meeting was attended on behalf of the Cuernavaca City Council by the Secretary of the City Council, Óscar Cano Mondragón; the Secretary of Citizen Protection and Assistance (SEPRAC), Guillermo García Delgado; the Secretary of Economic Development and Tourism, Marcos Manuel Suárez Gerard; and the Director General of Social Communication, Jorge Jiménez Ocampo.

It is worth noting that the Jiangsu Chamber of Commerce was founded in 2017 by a group of leading business leaders in coordination with the Foreign Affairs Office of the Jiangsu Provincial Government, and is supported by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Mexico.

Jiangsu Province is located on China’s east coast, north of Shanghai, bordered by the East China Sea. As of 2023, it had a population of approximately 85 million and is recognized as one of the most economically dynamic regions in the Asian country.
