21 establishments in Cuernavaca’s historic center join Código Violeta

The Government of the State of Morelos, led by Governor Margarita González Saravia, through the Secretariat for Women and in collaboration with the Secretariat of Tourism and the Secretariat of Economic Development and Tourism of Cuernavaca, consolidated the adherence of 21 establishments in the historic center to the Código Violeta strategy, as part of the efforts to prevent and address violence against women in public spaces.

This initiative strengthens security and support in commercial and tourist areas by identifying safe spaces where women at risk can seek immediate help and be referred to the appropriate authorities. Código Violeta contributes to building safer environments with a gender perspective in the heart of the Morelos capital.

“The protection of women is not just rhetoric; it is a public policy with clear, on-the-ground actions. We are grateful to the businesses that have joined this support network, because caring for women is everyone’s job,” said Clarisa Gómez Manrique, head of the Secretariat for Women.

Participating establishments will prominently display the official Code Violet image, receive training in psychological first aid and safe referrals, and receive information to coordinate with authorities. Implementation began this month, and the network is expected to expand to upcoming municipalities.

The Government of Morelos, through strategic alliances with commercial and social sectors, reaffirms its commitment to the lives, safety, and freedom of women, building supportive communities through prevention.
