With the aim of deterring crimes such as car theft, the Morelos State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) deployed 10 simultaneous vehicle inspection operations on high-traffic roads in the state’s municipalities.
Thanks to inter-institutional coordination between state and federal authorities, 625 vehicles were inspected on strategic highways connecting regions such as Cuernavaca, Jiutepec, and Emiliano Zapata; Jojutla, Zacatepec, and Puente de Ixtla; Tetela del Volcán, Yecapixtla, Yautepec, and Tlaltizapán.
The FGR obtained a sentence of 35 years and six months against Higinio “C,” a former judicial police officer, for his involvement in a 1997 kidnapping in Morelos. He is currently being held in Atlacholoaya.
Who participated in the operations?
These operations were led by the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC) through the Vehicle Recovery Group, in conjunction with members of the following:
Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena)
National Guard (GN)
Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC)
The operations focused on reviewing documentation, license plates, serial numbers, and legal status of vehicles circulating in key locations throughout the state, as part of a crime prevention strategy.
